SeedeXR is an immersive design studio in Dar es Salaam. We make work in XR, AR, VR, and games — for education, social impact, and cultural heritage. Heroes of the Indian Ocean is ours, and this exhibition is its first time meeting a Dar audience.

How do we create urgency for protecting our oceans?
How do we start driving action today before it's too late?
Ocean destruction happens out of sight, so it's easy to ignore. Heroes of the Indian Ocean uses immersive media to make the unseen visible — and in seeing, to feel something that drives action.
97%
of the ocean is unprotected.

A SeedeXR film

From registration to close, the night is built around immersive experiences: VR stations, phone-based AR, and a seven-step journey through a Swahili fisherman's day.
05
Operate the VR stations: fit headsets, sanitise between visitors, launch the right scene, watch for motion discomfort, help people exit safely.
03
Walk visitors through the phone-based AR pieces and the Ocean Fact Game. Help them launch, troubleshoot, and stay engaged.
02
Run the registration desk from 5 PM. Greet visitors, answer questions about the work, hold the room together during sea bites & drinks.
Full black. Printed name tags will identify you on the night.
The night will be photographed and filmed. Selected volunteers will be credited by name on SeedeXR's social channels. You'll need to consent to both at the form.
Saturday afternoon at SeedeXR offices: walkthrough of the XR stack, role-specific training, hands-on with the Quests. Real value, not just a perk.
TZS 25,000 in total — TZS 5,000 for the induction day, TZS 20,000 for the opening night. Paid in cash. No one pays out of pocket.
First consideration for future SeedeXR projects and open calls. Direct mentorship touchpoints with the core team for those who want to go deeper.
Volunteers are named on SeedeXR's social channels after the event.
XR and tech-curious students from UDSM, IFM, DIT, and COSTECH-adjacent programmes — and art and creative students from Nafasi Art Space, TaSUBa, design and visual arts circles. No formal background is required.
Women especially encouraged to apply.
Between 7 and 8 May, the SeedeXR core team reads every application and picks 10. Selected volunteers are notified directly.
All required unless marked optional. Takes about 5 minutes.
